knit vs woven fabric

The vast majority of fabrics are divided into knitted and woven. Woven fabric is a fabric formed by intertwining the warp and weft yarns perpendicularly to each other. Knitted fabrics are formed by knitting needles to form loops of yarn or filaments, and then the loops are strung together. Today we will introduce the differences between the two.

Difference 1: The composition of the fabric organization:

(A) Knitted fabric: It is a fabric formed by sequentially bending yarns into loops, and the loops are interlocked with each other to form a fabric. The process of forming loops from yarns can be carried out horizontally or vertically. Horizontal weaving is called weft knitted fabric, while longitudinal knitting called warp knitted fabric. (Knitted fabrics are knitted with needles)
(B) Woven fabric: It is a fabric composed of two or more sets of mutually perpendicular yarns interwoven at a 90-degree angle for warp and weft. The longitudinal yarns are called warp yarns, and the horizontal yarns are called weft yarns. (The woven fabric is woven with a weaving shuttle in the transverse direction)

Difference 2: Physical and mechanical properties of fabric organization:

(A) Knitted fabrics: physical and mechanical properties of fabrics, including longitudinal density, transverse density, square meter grammage, elongation, elasticity, breaking strength, abrasion resistance, hemming, thickness, release, shrinkage, coverage sex, bulk density.
(B) Woven fabrics: Physico-mechanical properties of woven fabrics, including warp and weft yarn density, selvedge, front and back, forward and reverse wool direction, and fabric coverage.

Difference 3: Representation of fabric organization:

(A) Knitted fabrics: Crew neck shirts, T-shirts, sportswear, sweaters.
(B) Woven fabrics: shirts, suits, down jackets, jeans.

In terms of weaving structure, woven fabrics are crisscrossed, and the warp and weft lines can be seen very clearly, and knitting is connected to each other in the form of loops. Due to structural reasons, woven fabrics are more rigid and stable in structure, and can be treated with printing and jacquard. Woven fabrics are resistant to washing, and are not prone to shrinkage and deformation after washing. Knitted fabrics have the characteristics of soft texture, moisture absorption and breathability, perspiration and warmth retention, and most of them have excellent elasticity and extensibility. Knitted clothing is comfortable to wear, close to the body and body, without tightness, and can fully reflect the human body curve. Both structures are different in style and expressiveness, so choose based on the style and style of the garment.
